The Chimera Master

My name used to be Victorian. I was the legendary Chimera Master who devoted his life to his calling. I never liked how people pursued those different from themselves. I changed that… My chimeras didn’t allow themselves to be pushed around, the way I was later on. Now I’m Victor, the owner of a veterinary clinic on the outskirts of the imperial capital, in the world where I fled for some rest and relaxation. Even someone like me needs a break from time to time. Yes, it’s what I wanted. Even the most powerful and audacious of creators needs a holiday. And this world, replete as it was with unique genetic material, seemed perfect. “It’s the ideal world for you,” said a certain goddess who was advising me to come here. But she forgot to mention one thing: in this “ideal world,” even as a veterinarian I had to remember how to create monsters just in order to survive.

Victor is liking his new life more and more. He can do what he wants here, without all the big, bloody politics, without struggling to be this world’s Most Important Person. It was all just the way he liked it: researching, working, and of course helping those in need. It was like this world had invented the profession of veterinarian especially for him. But Victor can‘t completely avoid doing battle. There are always those whose lives are under threat and he can’t just walk on past. If everything keeps on this way, Victor may well be able to say this is the best planet for someone like himself. But can anything really be this easy in the universe? Or was fate preparing fresh challenges for him? Time would tell…
